Final Fantasy 2 Pixel Remaster 100% Walkthrough - Snow Cavern

Now that we have the Snowcraft it’s time to head to the Snow Cavern.

To reach the Snow Cavern, as you leave Semitt Falls, go back along the river to the west, when you reach the end of the river, walk towards the north keeping the coastline on your left until you see the snowfields on your right.

When you reach here, head to the east and cross the snowfields using the Snowcraft to reach the Snow Cavern.

Before starting this dungeon, remember that you no longer have Minwu in your party so make sure you have at least one other party member that has the Life & Cure spells.

Snow Cavern

The Snow Cavern has a total of 13 treasure chests and we will be able to get all 13 of them on our first visit.

B1 has 2 chests, the one at the top left contains 300 Gil, and the one on the way down to the next floor has 350 Gil.

Once you have both chests, head down the stairs at the bottom of the room to reach B2.

There are 3 chests on B2, but to reach them you will need to come back through a different door from B3, so for now just go down the stairs to reach B3.

When you reach B3, first go to the left to get the only chest on this floor, the Antartic Wind.

Then go up the stairs at the top right to return to the other section of B2 where we will be able to get the 3 chests from that floor.

The chest at the bottom right of B2 has a Battle Axe, the one in the middle contains an Antidote, and the 3rd one to the left has a Mythril Mace, but be careful as this 3rd chest will also be an ambush!

Just after opening the 2nd chest of B2 you should get the

"Rookie Treasure Hunter" Trophy for opening 10% of the chests in the entire game if you have been following this Walkthrough.

You can now return back to B3 and this time take the stairs at the bottom left to reach B4.

On B4 we can find 4 more chests, there are two at the top part of the room and two at the bottom right.

The chest at the top left contains a Potion, the one just to its right has a Blizzard Tome, and the two at the bottom contain a Potion and Mythril Spear.

Once you have opened all 4 chests, take the stairs at the very top of the room to reach B5.

Not long to go now, just a couple more floors. On B5 there are 2 chests, one at the top left corner that contains a Mythril Shield, and one at the bottom left of the room that has an Ancient Sword (this chest is also an ambush so come prepared), the Ancient Sword is very strong for this point in the game so be sure to equip it.

After opening both chests you can advance to the next room by going through the door at the bottom right.

In this next room you need to speak with the beaver at the top left and Ask about the Goddess’s Bell, he will reveal there is a hidden passage to reach the boss guarding the bell.

When the conversation ends, go to the right to find the secret passage that will take you to B6.

This is the final floor, here you will be able to find the 13th chest and of course the Adamantoise Boss Fight.

This entire floor is very linear, there are no side paths, the chest is just before the boss, and it contains a Silver Cuirass which I recommend you equip before the upcoming boss fight.

Adamantoise Boss Fight

This boss also has high physical defense but it is weak to ice magic, so make sure you teach the Blizzard Tome we got from the chest earlier to your black mage.

When your ready approach the Adamantoise to start the fight.

After the boss fight, interact with the Goddess’s Bell behind him to pick it up.

You can then leave through the shortcut that opens up to return to B1 of the dungeon. As you get close to the exit you will encounter Borghen, this is another boss fight, but don’t worry it is very easy, you shouldn’t have any trouble with him.

After defeating Borghen, Josef will sacrifice himself to allow the rest of the party to escape, this of course results in Josef leaving your party.
