Final Fantasy 2 Pixel Remaster 100% Walkthrough - Castle Palamecia
After hearing that Leon has declared himself the new Emperor of Palamecia and that he plans to attack Fynn, we need to find out how to get into Castle Palamecia to stop him!
After the cutscene at Castle Fynn is over, speak with Hilda to Learn the new password, Palamecia. Then Ask her about Palamecia, she will tell you it is impossible to break into.
(Palamecia is a missable Password so make sure to Learn it here!)
If you then Ask Leila and Gordon about Palamecia they will tell you that Paul managed to get inside the castle once.
So our next objective will be to go to Paul’s house (bottom left corner of Fynn) to ask him about it.
Inside Paul’s house we will find Cid in the bedroom, he is very injured and when we speak to him, he decides to lend us his airship.
After Cid fades away, speak with Paul and Ask him about Palamecia, he will now reveal that the only way in is by entering from the sky.
For this we will first need to swing by Poft to pick up the airship. You can either walk all the way to Poft or just sail there on your ship.
You may want to stop by the Inn first to heal your party as they will still be damaged from the Cyclone Dungeon.
When you get there you can walk straight up the the airship to start flying it.
Castle Palamecia
You can now fly the airship straight to Castle Palamecia which is in the mountains just beside The Coliseum, you will need to land on top of the castle to get inside.
Missable Chests & Bestiary Warning!
The entire Castle Palamecia will disappear forever once you complete it, so make sure to open all 17 chests while inside the dungeon.
Also there are 5 Bestiary Entries in this dungeon that will be missable after finishing this dungeon, so make sure you fight at least one of each in here before you leave if you haven’t already.
The missable enemy types are: Skull, Eyemoeba, Black Knight, Stone Golem and General.
When you first enter the castle you will start on 7F, but after going through the first door you will fall straight down to 1F.
1F
On the first floor you will find 2 chests, one almost directly below where you start and another all the way at the bottom left corner of the room.
The chest below where you start contains a Diamond Cuirass, and the one at the bottom has Garlic.
Once you have opened both chests, go up the stairs on the top right to reach the dead end section of 2F that has another chest.
2F
In this dead end section of 2F we will only be able to get one of the chests, the one that contains the Hourglass.
After opening the chest, head back down to 1F, and this time go up the stairs at the bottom/center of the room to reach the main section of 2F.
You will now be in the main section of 2F, here there are 2 more chests we can open, the one at the bottom right that contains an Ether, and one at the top right that contains a Buckler.
After you have opened them both, go up the stairs at the bottom of the room to reach 3F.
3F
3F is very simple, it only has 1 chest on the bottom left side of the room, which contains a Thunder Spear, along with an enemy ambush!
After opening the chest, go up the stairs at the bottom right of the room to reach 4F.
4F
You will find 5 chest on 4F, in the main room the chest at the bottom contains a Saint’s Spirit, and the one on the left has a Sleepgrass.
Once you have opened both of these chests, go through the door at the bottom left to reach the side room where you will find another 3 chests.
These chests contain: Mage’s Staff, Wizard’s Staff and Healing Staff.
Exit the side room, now go through the door at the top right to reach 5F.
5F
This floor doesn’t actually have any chests, so we are going to go directly up the stairs that are slightly to the left from where we entered the room.
This will take us to 6F.
6F
We will be able to find 1 chest on 6F, it contains a Sun Blade (this one will also be an ambush so be prepared).
Once we have opened the only chest on this floor, go up the stairs at the top right to reach 7F.
7F
At first sight it may look like this floor doesn’t have any chests either, but there are actually 3 chests inside the side room that you can reach by going through the door near the middle.
All 3 of the chests in this side room contain Elixirs!
Now backtrack down 2 floors, back down to 5F.
This time on 5F, take the stairs all the way at the top left side of the room. Then follow that linear path until you reach 8F.
8F
This is the final floor, at last.
Make sure the first thing you do when you reach 8F is go all the way around to the top left corner to open the 2 chests, they contain Hellfire and a Wind Flute.
You should now have all 17 chests in this dungeon, double check in the map menu to make sure you have them all now before you finish the dungeon.
Also make sure you have defeated at least one of each of the 5 missable enemies we mentioned before (it is very unlikely that you haven’t encountered at least one of each, but just to be safe check anyway).
When you’re ready, approach Leon in the Throne Room to start the cutscene.
Here Ricard sacrifices himself to save the rest of the party, while they escape on the Wyvern.
"Allied Offensive" Trophy.
That now puts an end to the Castle Palamecia Dungeon, our next objective will be the Jade Passage!
