Final Fantasy 2 Pixel Remaster 100% Walkthrough - Cave of Mysidia
Now that we have obtained the Black Mask from the Tropical Island, our next objective is to head over to Cave of Mysidia!
You can find the Cave of Mysidia in the central of the “spiral” shaped mountain range just to the south-east of Mysidia.
Many of the chests in this dungeon may look like you can’t reach them yet but they are simply accessed by going through fake walls, all chests can be obtained here on this first visit.
And some of these chests have very good loot!
So let’s head inside the cave and get started.
Cave of Mysidia B1
In this first room there are 2 chests, the one at the top left contains a Gold Hairpin and the one on the right has a Black Garb.
After you have opened both chests, head towards the door at the bottom left (all other doors just lead to empty rooms filled with monsters).
When you get to the door there will be a Doppelganger blocking the way, just talk to him and choose Key Items > Black Mask (you can only do this because you have already placed the White Mask on the statue in Mysidia.
When he moves out of the way, go through the door behind him to reach B2.
B2
B2 also has just 2 chests.
The chest that has the Power Staff you can just walk to without any trouble, however for the chest that has the Flame Lance you will need to walk through the fake wall where the red arrow is.
Once you have opened both chests, go to the door at the bottom left marked with “next” to advance to B3.
B3
Again, in B3 we are going to find 2 more chests.
Same as in the previous room, the chest that contains the Ogrekiller you can just walk to without any trouble (although it will have a monster ambush when you open it).
However for the Ice Bow chest at the top left, you need to walk through another fake wall, indicated by the red arrow.
Once you have both chests, go through the door that I have marked with “next” on the map (the higher of the 2 doors available). This will take you to B4.
B4
You can find 4 chests on B4, one of them will be on the main path while the other 3 are in an optional side room.
The one in the main room contains a Potion, then if you go through the middle door on the left you will reach the room with the other 3 chests that contain a Phoenix Down, a Bell of Silence & a Gold Needle.
After opening all chests you can go through the door at the bottom right to reach B5.

All 9 of the remaining chests for this dungeon are found here in B5.
The first chest is just to the right of the entrance and it contains a Drain Tome (be careful it is also an ambush). For the next 5 chests we need to go to the top right side of the room and go through another fake wall indicated by the red arrow in the image.
This side of the fake wall we can find a single chest below us that contains a Mini Tome, and 4 chests above us that contain: a Potion, Ether and x2 Hi-Potions.
Once we have all of these you can go through the door at the top left part of the room to reach the final small area where there are 3 more chests.
The ones on each side are a Drain Tome and an Osmose Tome, te one in the middle is the Crystal Rod, this is the item we need for the main story.
Once we have the Crystal Rod you can use Teleport to leave the dungeon, you should also now have all 19 chests for the Cave of Mysidia.
