In Valor Mortis, your Ferrofluid Flasks are your lifeline. These healing items are your main way to recover health mid-fight, and they refill each time you rest at a Lantern. But early on, a single flask only restores a small chunk of your health, which won’t get you far against the game’s tougher enemies. That’s where Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrades come in.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrades increase the potency of each one, so every sip restores more health. There are 25 to find in the game. They don’t always cost just one per upgrade: the first few levels cost a single Power Upgrade, and each level after that costs progressively more. To use them, rest at any Lantern and open the Upgrade Ferrofluid Flasks menu. Many are tucked away off the main path, so collecting every one makes a real difference in the late game.
This guide lists the location of every Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade, so you can strengthen your heals as early as possible and head into the toughest fights ready for whatever they throw at you.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 1
The first Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade can be found shortly after the "Guidepost" Lantern in the Valley of Ashes region.
Continue on the main path until you reach a wooden plank sticking out at the end of a cliff, at this plank, turn left and make your way through the breakable boxes to find an enemy with an axe guarding a chest.
The chest behind this enemy contains the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 2
Head to the top of the "Quarry" (in the Valley of Ashes region), and then turn around to see the blue hooks, you can use the Grappling Hook ability (which you unlock by advancing the main story) to swing across to the other side.
When you reach the other side, use the Grappling Hook again on the bottom of the big rock attached to the crane to lower it so you can climb up, at the next area keep climbing with the help of the Grappling Hook until you reach the very top, here you will find the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade being guarded by a big enemy.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 3
Starting from the "Fields" Lantern in the Fallen Village region, go through the big shortcut gate on the left (which you will first have to open from the other side by advancing the main path in this area). Just through this gate is a well up the small hill on the left.
Behind that well is where you will find the fourth Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade.

For the fifth Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade, go up the ramp inside the building just to the right of the "Marketplace" Lantern in the Fallen Village region. This will lead you to the main market area.
When you reach the open market area, look inside the building on the left, the one near the riverbed, to find the chest inside behind a couple of breakable boxes.

Starting from the "Old Mine" Lantern in the Caverns region, go down the main path on the right where you will see some stairs, at the top of the stairs activate the lever to raise the platform.
Then use the Statis Transmutation to freeze the cog and keep the platform raised so that you can jump across.
Continue through the next cave until you reach a ladder, DON'T go up the ladder, instead go to the left from here, then on this path take two more lefts and you should see this corpse pinned to a pole, jump down to the right of this corpse then go down the ladder you will see.
At the bottom turn around and go through the tunnel behind the ladder (you may need to wait around for a while for a cart to break through the wall first).
Continue on this path all the way until you reach another lever that will raise a box up, here use the Stasis Transmutation again to freeze the cogs in place to keep the platform up high.
Then go up the stairs on the right to be able to jump across to the left side with the help of the box we just raised, at the top of the stairs on the left side you will find the chest.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 6
First you need to pick up the "Mining Shaft Key" which can be found by jumping off the shortcut lift next to the "Old Mine" Lantern in the Caverns region.
Once you have the Mining Shaft Key, take the lift all the way to the bottom and go to the right, where you see the rotating panel on the floor to change the direction of the mine carts, climb up the ladder to use the key to open the metal gate at the top.
Go through the gate and take the next lift all the way down to another area, continue climbing down that new area until you find the chest at the bottom being guarded by the tall enemy.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 7
Just up the shortcut ladder near the "Under The Bridge" Lantern in the Vale of Wrath region, jump on the boxes to enter the building through the roof, inside this building activate the lever to raise the gate on the other side then use the Stasis Transmutation ability to freeze the cogs so that the gate stays risen.
Once you have frozen the gate open, exit back out the building and simply walk through the main gate to see the chest containing the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade on the left.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 8
Continue on the main path past the "Ship Graveyard" Lantern in the Vale of Wrath region. Keep swinging across the wrecked ships until you reach the one shown in the images below.
When you reach this ship (the 2nd full ship that isn't destroyed), look under the ramp closest to where you are coming from to find the chest hidden below.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 9
The ninth Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade is found near the "Village Church" Lantern in the Cursed Hollow region.
Continue on the main story path just past the Lantern and then turn right as soon as you can just before the tree, then backtrack towards the way you came but on the right side of the wall this time until you see a red vine orb in the building ahead.
Shoot the red orb to destroy the vines, go into the building ahead and go up the stairs to reach the top floor, from here jump across to the building next to it to find the chest.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 10
To fin this one you will need to backtrack from the "Deep Water" Lantern in the Cursed Hollow region, until you reach the area with the really tall "vine trees" with corpses hanging from them.
When you reach this area go into the house on your left and look out the window to see a red vine orb in a nearby building.
Shoot the red orb to release a cart into the main street which you can now use to jump up into the building on the right where you will find the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 11
From the "Silent Cannons" Lantern in the Cursed Hollow region, jump across the floating debris until you reach the shore the other side. Once you do, go right and use the wallrun to reach a cabin.
Speak with the person at the window the start "The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory" Side Quest.
He will ask for you to bring him blood, you have two options, you can bring him the Bottle of Wine or the Blood Filled Bottle from a pig.
To find the Bottle of Wine, go to the right from the cabin and through the small building, the other side there will be an Elite enemy you will need to defeat.
In the small hut at the far end of the area where the Elite enemy was waiting, you will find the Bottle of Wine which you can take back to the cabin to get the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade.
The Blood Filled Bottle is obtained by examining the dead pig in this same area (you can give him either of the 2 Bottles and still get the Upgrade as a reward).
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 12
Starting from the "Breach" Lantern in The Outskirts region, cross the bridge where you fought the High Justicar Aurelius Boss, and very shortly after the bridge you will see the chest on the left of the main path as you are heading down.

To find the 13th Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade, continue the main story path to the left from the "Tribunal Square" Lantern in the City of Orphans region.
Go to the end of the main street and then into the house on the right, go up the stairs to reach the top floor, then exit out onto the planks of wood through the destroyed wall of the building.
Walk around the building to the left using the planks of wood until you reach a courtyard the other side, drop down to the courtyard to find the chest.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 14
Near the "Sewers" Lantern in the City of Orphans region, continue slightly on the main path until you use the first Grappling Point, after grappling across to the other side, go left to cross a small bridge, then go left again to reach a dead end looking back at the same Grappling Point.
From this new angle, use the Grappling Point again to swing across to the room that contains the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade chest.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 15
In the City of Orphans region, in the main open area with the statue which you can reach by going up the shortcut ladder near the "Tribunal Square" Lantern.
Close the the statue in the middle of the open area just before climbing the big tower.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 16
In the "Main Hall" of the University, jump across the chandelier in the upper area near where you unlock the Shield Transmutation that allows you to walk through the poison areas without taking damage.
Use the Shield Transmutation to get through the poison mist in the upper floor room and go through the crawl space behind the statue, continue on this path until you go down the elevator.
After reaching the area at the bottom of the elevator, look behind the statue on the right to find the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade in the chest.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 17
Starting from the "Lift Shaft" Lantern in the University region, go down the lift, then turn around and go down the long hallway.
When you reach a closed metal gate, take the hall on the left, then take the next path on the right all the way to the end to find the chest.
Be careful as this chest is a trap and will explode when you open it, there will also be a trap tile in front of the chest, so be prepared to dodge the traps to then be able to loot the upgrade.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 18
This Upgrade is in the chest directly below the "Laboratories" Lantern in the University region.
To find it, simply turn around from where you reached the Lantern to look back across the green path you just came from, and drop down to find the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade in the chest directly below you.
(Be careful as the chest will also be a trap and will explode when you open it, so dodge the explosion before looting).

Starting from the "Traverse" Lantern in the Fortress region, turn back towards the entrance and go into the area through the arch on the right.
In this area go up the stairs on the left to find the chest hidden in the ruins (on your right shortly after going up the stairs).

Starting from the "Ramparts" Lantern in the Fortress region, first go up the stairs on the right.
In the next area, climb up the ladder on your right hand side, when you reach the top area with the cannons you will find the chest on the right side.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 21
We first need to find the Captain's Key, to do so, backtrack from the "Ramparts" Lantern (Fortress Region) back down the ladder into the big open room where you can swing across to the door on the left.
Through this door go down the stairs to find a web that you can burn using the Flames Transmutation, burn the web to reveal a long hallway where you will find the Captain's Key at the end.
Now that we have the Captain's Key, we can use it on the door directly across from the "Traverse" Lantern to find the Upgrade in a chest inside.
Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 22
We first need to find the Fortress Armory Key, to do so, again backtrack from the "Ramparts" Lantern (Fortress Region) back down the ladder into the big open room where you can swing across to the door on the left.
In the next area, go down the stairs and then go straight ahead into the small "maze" area, go as far forward as you can without turning, then go to the right, then left, you should have now reached a room with a lever that you can activate to open the gate, then use the Stasis Transmutation to freeze the cogs and keep the gate open.
In the next room with the big enemy, climb up the ladder on the left to find the Fortress Armory Key.
Then use the key back in the room with the blue swing pole we came through at the start of this entry, in the Armory is where you will find the Upgrade.
